A HIGH street building society has offered advice after a counterfeit device was found at their Colwyn Bay branch.
Police were called to at the scene at the Halifax ATM machine on Monday, July 21, and they urged people to be vigilant when using cash machines.
A Halifax spokesperson said: “We would ask when people are vigilant when using a cash machine. If you notice anything out of place, any unusual devices attached to the machine or anyone hanging around nearby, report it.
“Skimming or cloning devices are sometimes used to copy details from the magnetic stripe on your card as it is inserted into the machine, and criminals also try and obtain your pin number through a small camera situated above the screen.
“Any devices or suspicious activity are to be reported to a building society member of staff immediately.”
Anyone with information regarding the incident on Penrhyn Road is urged to call 101 quoting reference number R111615.
