A family have escaped uninjured after a suspicious fire at their home late on Saturday.A joint police and fire service investigation is under way after the blaze at First Avenue, Rhos-on-Sea, Colwyn Bay. The property's UPVC front door was damaged by fire, and the interior of the home received smoke damage. North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said the lives of four people inside were saved by working fire alarms. The fire service said it was thought to have been started by "deliberate ignition". Two fire crews from Colwyn Bay were called to the home at about 2240 BST. County operations manager Terry Williams said: "On this occasion working smoke alarms were fitted inside the property which saved the lives of four people. "We cannot over emphasize the importance of installing smoke alarms." |
