New £100,000 fund to help clean up Conwy county

ALMOST £100,000 has been set aside to help improve the environment in Conwy County.
The Welsh Government cash injection came as part of its Tidy Town’s initiative, and will be used to tackle dog fouling, littering and improve areas including the Fairy Glen Nature Reserve in Old Colwyn.
Cllr Mike Priestley, Cabinet Member for Highways, Environment and Sustainability, said “This funding makes a real difference in our communities; supporting initiatives that keep the area clean, safe and pleasant to live in.”
Community Environment Days will take place in different communities each month over the next year, and the council will also be tackling hot spot areas with stronger enforcement and CCTV.
The dog fouling and littering campaign will include raising awareness of the issues and dangers associated with the problem in Conwy and working to improve “responsible dog ownership” in the county.
Cllr Philip Evans, Cabinet Member for Governance and Regulation, said: “This funding will help in our engagement with communities experiencing problems with littering and dog fouling and also help us with educating and encouraging people to comply with the law.”
